I was actually excited. I got up a little excitement for the big final 3 showdown. I like all 3 of these contestants and this year.... they can all sing their butts off. So maybe that's what makes it all so .... so.... so.....
I don't know.
But something is different this year about it because it doesn't seem so important to choose one over the other. Hhhmmm...
Moving on. I want to give a big shout out to my boy George Huff in the house last night. And I was so glad they gave Clive a seat at the table to be a real judge... til he opened his mouth and sounded like he was 150 years old yearning for the younger years. Oh sorry. That just slipped out. On with the show.
Bo = winner. I'm not voting for him. But he is a hot, very talented performer who is a ROCK STAR. ROCK..... and ROLL.... you go boy! Right before Randy said it, I said to myself "Is this American Idol or Bo's world tour pay per view?!?" He was performing like it was his private concert and Stepford Wife and Baby V (that V stands for VENEERS - the whitest teeth I've ever seen) were his opening and intermission acts. But those girls held their own I'll tell you that. Everybody came to play. A quick run down:
Bo - Clive's choice: Don't Let the Sun... I thought to myself as they said the title ELTON JOHN?!?! WHA!?! But then he sang that song ya'll. SANG in his shades giving himself some funk and world tour hotness and all. Bo's choice: I dont' know what that was. BUT I am not in agreement with half the world who believes this was the single greatest performance they've seen on Idol. It takes alot to impress me... and that wasn't it. Acappella stunts do not impress. But it had all the WOW factor it needed to get him the votes. And that was his point ya'll. Judges choice: I can't get no satisfaction. O.k. Bo and the Stones?!! DUH! Bo & the Stones is like checking Paula's purse for pain killers - you know the outcome. But guess what? Once again it wasn't all super star for me. I mean it was good. But I was sooo with Simon on this one. Not THAT good boy. Still I felt he had a great night. Sounded good, looked all kinds of hot rock star and that's probably where the votes are coming from. But I just have one thing to say, it's American Idol Bo... you ain't on pay per view yet boy.
Vonzell - Clive's choice: Never Love This Way Again. And may you never sing that pitchy again. Oh V I was sad for you. It was good... but those of us who really know.... knew it was pitchy here and there. You looked good though. A little beauty pageanty and all, but still very pretty dress. Next choice: Chain of Fools was HOT, HOT, HOT. That girl sang the heck out of that song. This performance got the replay award in my house last night. I must have Tivo'd that back at least 10 times before watching the rest of the show. And she looked good in those jeans and sweater (Vonzell, email me and tell me where you got the sweater girl). Final song: On the Radio. FINALLY!! How the heck did we get all the way to season 4 without hearing my beloved queen of disco Donna Summer?!?! Every time they did Disco night I wrote about not hearing any Donna Summer. Go Vonzell. But.... V.... honey..... take that pink sequin tube top and those horrible black cropped pants I hate back to the store. If we can get past the tube top Vonzell actually had a very hot night. But she seems to be going unnoticed next to Bo and Carrie.
Carrie - Clive's Choice: Cryin'. HUH?!?! Clive what? Did anyone else wonder what that was about? But she sang it with all kinds of greatness. Her voice is incredible. Hard to believe this girl is hanging out milking cows with her dad with an undiscovered voice like that. Carrie's choice: AIR SUPPLY. AAHHHHH kill me know I thought. I chocked on my drink when Ryan said it. I swear. But guess what? Once again... she powered it out and pulled it off. And thank goodness she got the memo and stayed away from the 80's hair or those Stepford dresses last night. Whew. Judges choice: Man I feel like a woman. Once again.... DUH!! And just like when I thought Bo's was a DUH moment.... it wasn't. I wasn't all that impressed. Bad arrangement. Poor performance. But she did alright vocally. Just alright. I'm just a little surprised that she couldn't pull off a better pure country pop performance with a perfect Shania song.
O.k. so to sum it up. All 3 had some HOT and some just O.k. moments. Noone blew it and sucked the big one. And all 3 are very talented. This is a tough one. My gut tells me Bo is a shoo-in. And Vonzell's gone unnoticed and will be flying home next to her daddy in a bad pimp suit.
well the results are on and I'm out!

Okay if you read back i've posted the final 3 and then the final 2, and guess what JADED was right!!! I've picked out the Final 2 since the top 12, mark my words this years finale will be just as close as Ruben's and Clay's if not closer!!
Carrie rocked out, course I really didn't like her "I feel lIke a woman" but the other two were great!!
Bo he's second song was a little boring, and i didn't like the last one.
V---Baby V--- Honey you've got pipes there's no doubt about that, but you just weren't a favorite to win this thing, you never have been. I'm extremely proud that you made it to the top 3, and I hope you have a successful carrer!
Did anyone notice that Carrie had the biggest crowd of all 3 of them? And in the paper i read that Checotah was the best organized cities of the 3! Go CARRIE'S HOME TOWN. Well that's all. Peace. Love. Happiness
You guys are so right on -- and so, so funny to read. Poor, poor Vonzell....that girl can sing, but I don't think she has the training the other two have had. She will get better and better and be a hit, though. My daughter and I are going to see American Idol in August in Portland!!! Floor seats - #20 and 21. Can't wait.
Ok I want to Rant. What am I ranting about....the band and whoever controls the band and background singers volume levels.
I was not impressed with Bo's Acappella. I thought it could have been Fantasia Summertime good but it wasn't. I did not even think it was as good as Carrie's Crying. But back to my rant.
Last week the band screwed up Carrie's first song. This week Baby V sound like she was trying to get in sync with the band on her first song.
Next week, they will have background singers that are louder than the contestant. I remember not being about to hear Rueben in the finals.
I do think they should make one show all Acappella or if you have to sing more than one song, one must be Acappella. That will cut out the singers that can hide behind the music. I would list people but the list would be too long.
Last notes:
Did you see that Carrie actually moved this week? Maybe she got some last night.
And lastly...Remember Mario?
I think that Bo's a capella was pretty good;;granted because he is a guy without a particularly rangey, super strong voice, to some it may not have sounded as impressive as say, Fantasia. However,if you listened to Carrie's hometown journey Star Spangled Banner, you could hear she doesn't sound nearly as good without background music. I think everyone would be suprised how much pitchiness and bad notes the band can cover up. That's why Bo deserves to win American Idol; he took a risk and threw it all out there. Carrie is way too robotic and would be a snoozefest to see live. Vonzell would probably be great live--I think the strain, pressure and whirlwind of activity just got to her towards the end. So, here's to Bo taking the whole thing, even though I think he would make a better album NOT produced by the show. Carrie and her blank slate personality would be ideal for that.
Didn't Carrie sing Donna Summer's MacArthur Park during "70's dance music" night? Well...not one of my favorite Donna Summer songs. At least they made up for it with On the Radio.
Anyway, Bo rocks and I would definitely buy one of his albums over Carrie, but I agree that an album not produced by AI would probably be better. Perhaps I'll vote for Carrie.
I agree -- I think the pressure and the grind got to Vonzell the last few weeks. But I'm gonna miss her. Overall, I think she was the best-looking contestant AI has had since Ryan Starr. And she seems like a really nice girl, too!
WE've made a habit of listening to the performances without watching - we knew a long time ago that Bo had better pitch than Carrie and even Vonzell. V is really fun to watch and she'l probably go far but Carrie better have a LOUD band behind her on extended tours. She doesn't seem to be handling the voice fatigue too well (horrible clip from her hometown video). Bo's acapella song WAS the best performance this season -maybe not as good as Fantasia's Summertime but different genre/styles. I hope he gets to produce an album in his own style not the AI way.
I'm satisfied that Bo and Carrie are in the final 2, although I wish it could have been Bo and Constantine. I actually hope that Bo wins, but it's hard to say since he was in the lower 2 last week. Actually, I've decided that the final 2 are equal winners of AI, especially when it was Ruben and Clay. This final week will be the most exciting performance of the season, and I hope they still have Paul Anka sing his AI rendition of "My Way"... one of the best parts of AI.
