Okay. I don't know what is going on around here.
I could barely even watch Tuesday night's show. What with all the howling and the bad hair and the odd outfits? Who COULD watch it? Most of the night, I just kept my finger on the fast forward button. Waiting for the horror to end.
The nineties? As a theme? They are using as a theme stuff that happened five years ago? Five years ago isn't a theme! It's FIVE YEARS AGO. I still have jeans from five years ago. SHOES from five years ago. Heck, I have a block of cheese at the back of my fridge from five years ago. It's not a theme. Five years ago is five years ago. That's like saying the AI theme is "right this minute." You must sing songs from "Right This Minute!"
I have not one good thing to say about what I saw on Tuesday night.
Not one.
NOT.
ONE.
So did I care that No Neck was voted off? Not really. Did I care that Nadia and Anwar were in the danger zone?
A little.
But I do care that they come up with a decent theme for next week. Because I'm starting to get angry. I'm starting to get surly and rowdy and ready to use my finger to delete AI from my Season Pass...
...I miss Ruben and Fantasia and Kelly....

my sentiments almost exactly.
i care about "no neck" as you call her--wish i could remember names--because she didn't deserve ouster. no way. at least she sings in tune. big problems with pitch this year. but i guess singing in tune isn't that important to a lot of folks, ruben being last year's example.
Strange how differently some people view the same thing. I've been watching Idol from the beginning, and I'm way more involved in it this year than in previous seasons, especially last year when I only liked a couple of the top ten. This year I think everyone (except that awful Fedorov) deserves to be in the top ten. I also think the presence of Bo and Constantine, and to a smaller extent Nadia, have shaken things up. It's nice to see people singing stuff other than the same old Stevie, Whitney, Marvin, Aretha....
I sure hope Carrie doesn't win this thing. It would just be too expected and safe. And do we really NEED a country Idol? I don't think so. She's no Kelly.
Was it bad singing or were the 90's just the worse music ever written....Since the 90's was the decade of country, me thinks it is the latter. How Bo could not sing Grunge is beyond me? As the Soup Nazi would say, "No vote for you". I expect, tolarate and semi-enjoy county from Carrie. But the star of the night was Vonzell.
I thought Jessica could be the Kim from season 2...remember she spent a lot of time in the bottom 3 until she got her act together. Jessica can sing. That is more than I can say for the Clay wanna be. They could not even find a 10 second clip that sounded decent. But alast Simon was right on...it is more important to be liked than to be able to sing....at least early in the competition.
Okay - I must be the only one. I was waiting for an update on this blog - waiting for the word on Paula. But it looks like I will have to be the one to call attention to it...
Wasn't she drunk as a skunk?
She was so much farther out in la-la land than normal... She's always a little on the loopy side, but after one of the guys sang she said something that only an intoxicated person would say...and she said it with a back and forth swaying motion.
Something along the lines of:
"I was right there with it..." Paula sways back and forth, eyes closed, hangs clasped together out in front of her.
The problem isn't the themes, it's the same songs over and over each year. I know that the idols can only pick the songs AI has the rights to, but it seems like everyone sings the same songs from the year before. I'm surprised when someone actually picks a song we haven't heard at least 5 times already. Wouldn't it be great if the idols could pick a song they really wanted to sing? I'm really excited that there are 2 rockers in the final 12, and I hope AI expands the music rights so they can sing something exciting and new. The judges always criticize the song choices, but I get the feeling there isn't much to choose from.
Okay call me hick from the hills, but I happened to think that Carrie's performance of Independence Day was good (not the best from Carrie) and she deserves to be in the top 10, and she deservise to win, she's the sweetest on of the top 10, I can't STAND Nadia, that girl needs to go home, she was Likable in the beginning but now she's got this attitude, when ever Jackson says she isn't the strongest vocalist, and may I point out HE IS RIGHT, now the performance that totally blew me away was Vonzale, WHO THE HELL KNEW SHE COULD BLOW LIKE THAT??? Whitney huston is sitting in her rehab room crying because that girl just stole her song right out from underneath her.
I think that "No Neck" deservse to go home, she isn't a LIKEABLE person there is something about her and that something AIN'T Idol material.
The Performance that I just could not sit through was Scotts, oh god he sounded awful, and i didn't like Anwar either, but he didn't need to be in the bottom 3, Scott should of been standing right there next to Nadia and No Neck. I believe if Scott sings poorly again, next week, his BIG BUTT is going home, only because he's not likable anymore to most woman due to his recent news coverage.
Well I'm out. Peace!!!
Hmm, a lot of people have been mentioning Nadia's "attitude" here and there. Is it just me, or am I not seeing this "attitude?" I have yet to hear her say something contradictive to the judges (besides the mohawk and song choice comments during 80s week--whereas that time she was just defending her self-esteem). I notice that people see her "attitude" when she is told that she's not the best vocalist, so this past week I took it upon myself to study her face. After Randy made his comments, I noticed that she simply smiled...perhaps graciously, and at least she didn't roll her eyes as Scott has done in the past. Maybe people should read the facial expressions better--all the girl does is smile and defend her personality. Can't argue with that.
I agree - Nadia has shown nothing but class (except for that horrid mohawk incident). Sandi & Shonda - where are you? It just isn't as fun without your rants. I actually think you are the best part of AI for me.
Yes, where are you??? We miss you guys!!!
OMG WHERE ARE YOU GUYS!!! I so miss your column!!!!
I'm jonesin' for some Idolrant. Hope all is well with you guys. Perhaps you were so disgusted by the show that you are boycotting your own rant?!
Girls - hope you'll be back next week. It just aint the same without ya!
I hope everything is OK. Really miss your commentary - even when I don't agree, I can always appreciate the humor!
Okay Ladies WHERE ARE YOU????? Every day I have logged on to the rant page waiting.....for SOMETHING, ANYTHING!!! Please give us a sign of life!! The show was hideous but don't make us suffer for it!!!
I think I see what the problem is here. It's the memory of last season -- the memories of Fantasia, Jennifer, and Diana. Those memories are just too strong. They make this season just seem like a waste of time. Now, I love Vonzell & Bo & even Carrie, but they're also-rans next to last season's top performers. I think Sandie and Shonda feel the same way -- like, why bother?

helloooooooo!!!! where are u???? don't give up on AI... we all still want to read your column!!
okay, am I the only one who loves, loves, loves Constantine?! The guy is so entertaining & adorable!!!
Love Anwar & Carrie too but I think we need a different kind of winner this year!
Blondie, you are NOT the only one. I've loved him from the beginning and I'm so proud that he keeps getting better each week. I think he may actually have a shot at winning this thing!
Sandie and Shonda, where are you? We miss you so!
I can see there hasn't been an update, but I'll comment on the last show that I saw. Constantine has been getting better and better since the beginning. When it was the first twelve contestants, I thought that he should've been kicked off and soon, but now, after observing the last show, he was even better than Bo! Bo has to keep things moving or else he's going to be kicked off. Nadia - I don't mind her being voted off because her talent wasn't up to par with the rest. It's been really close up to now and I love how it's been so competitive because most of them actually have some sort of talent this year!!
OK - now i am getting worried that my absolute FAVORITE blog is a thing of the past - are you two okay??? we need your witty words of wisdom weekly - weally we do.
This season is terribly uneven and I am starting to think last year might have had the best cast ( the divas plus Lisa L edging out KLo, Clay and Ruben) but please please please come back we are begging you to rant again soon - and often!
