Mario jumps ship...

Well... we all know we can't get through a season of AI without a good scandal can we?

Who's shocked here? Not me.

Fox announced yesterday that Mario Vasquez has bailed just before the finals begin. Why? Well... that's where the scandal part comes in of course. Fox told press that he had to leave to take care of personal or family issues. But Mario's mom has since been interviewed and knows nothing of these "family issues." Another source now says that Mario has disclosed to them that he got out just before having to sign the 2nd contract all finalists must sign. That contract has some very strict stipulations in it that he just wasn't willing to give in to. There are other rumors out there as well about what may have triggered Mario's sudden departure that you're sure to hear about in the days to come as well.

Who really knows. It's FOX. And we all know what that means anyway.

So.... what does all this mean? All you Nikko fans.... get ready! He's been reinstated as Mario's replacement in the top 12. Get happy Shonda, your boy is back. Bobby Brown is back. I just hope he can get his act together or he'll be back on that plane quicker than he can get those bags unpacked! Pull it together Bobby Brown, this is your 2nd shot at fame and fortune (and apparently an insanely restrictive contract that will rule your life for the next few years).

That's the news.

I'm out.

You refer to Nikko has Bobby Brown?! Oh dear, that wasn't Nikko. Nikko sang a beautiful version of Georgia on his last show. The judges loved Nikko-- especially Paula. Now about Mario. He could have been a contender, he was a true performer, i just wish the contract would have scared Constatine or Scott away... they are the ones that really need to go....

Thanks for the news. There will be some sadness in our house, where Mario had some big fans.

Oh Mario! How could you? How could you come on and sing so sweetly about your broken heart, and make us love you and then leave us? Cruel - that's what it is.

Nikko has either a target the size of Vermont on his back or he will get a pass for the first few rounds. And Simon was right: he does look like Bobby Brown. And I wouldn't mind some of Bobby's personality along with it though. As long as he continues to impersonate a chair, don't matter how much he likes Georgia.

As far as Mario taking a hike. Whatever. Are they telling us he wasn't bright enough to do his research before entering? It's not like Fuller's contract is any big secret. There has to be something more. But frankly, I could care less.

Here's my guess: Mario lied about his age.

If Fez had lied about his age, Fox would have announced that they were eliminating him, why he was being removed from the competition and then would have introduced Nikko as his replacement. As it is, Fox is barely acknowledging that Mario even existed. It's like he left them standing at the altar.

I think he got a better deal, or he at least got a guaranteed deal, and knowing that he's not going to win, he decided to bail now rather than be locked into the American Idol tour through next summer.

There are definietly some haves (Carrie, Anwar, Vonzell, Bo) and some have-nots (Lindsey, Scott, Nikko), but Mario is in the middle; he could hang around, but his chances of winning outright are pretty slim, so I think he took the money that was offered up front and decided to try and make it without American Idol.

I loved Mario soooo much - it really disappoints me to see him go. Did you guys see him on Letterman last night though? He said some pretty weird things about Ryan Seacrest and him!

Oh well...at least my Idol instant messenger skin is still set on him! They can't take that away from me! haha
