How happy am I that Reichen and Chip won The Amazing Race?!

I TOLD y'all that the two badass homosexuals would take the prize.

I TOLD y'all!

That said, television continues to suck. There is nothing on worth watching, nothing of note. And AI won't be airing until January. On AI Juniors (another suck-y show), Ryan did say that Simon would be back to judge AI 3 -- despite the rumors to the contrary. I guess Fox paid him the big bucks he was asking for. Besides, would the show be any good without Simon to balance out the syrupy goodness of Paula and the "dawg, man, dawg" of Randy?

I think not.

In the coming weeks, with nothing better to write about, I'm going to review the upcoming new fall shows. Just to have something to keep me and all of you amused.

What do Flying Without Wings and a Pokemon soundtrack have in common?

So... who knew that I would end up hearing something so riveting as part of a Pokemon movie soundtrack tonight? Yep... my boys were watching a Pokemon video that we rented this weekend and as the credits are rolling at the end I hear a very familiar song... only not quite as familiar as we know it today. Flying Without Wings. Yes, I said it. Flying Without Wings being sung as the title track to the Pokemon 2000 movie. Apparently one of the hottest songs on that soundtrack released in the year 2000 by the way. Yes, the year 2000 and it certainly was not performed by Ruben Studdard. Instead I heard a fairly good version performed by a European group called Westlife. I have heard of them somewhere along the line since I am admittedly a boy band junkie. (shhhh... don't tell anyone that - afterall I'm a 36 years old mother of 2 for crying out loud) They are a very hot boy band in the UK and after a little investigating I have found the (what seems obvious now) connection to our American Idol winner.

Westlife is signed to a UK branch of Arista Records - part of the BMG Entertainment family and the previous brain child of the one and only Clive Davis. (Arista is now being run by Antonio "LA" Reid since Clive was forced to retire from the label a few years ago - but anyway I digress...). Clive's new private label, J. Records, is where the American Idol winners now reside. J. Records is a joint venture between Clive and BMG.

Are you following me?

The long and the short of it is this: Flying Without Wings was put out there as if it was some new and original release from the superstar voice of Ruben Studdard on that show. When in reality, they pulled some strings within the company to bring the song to the US knowing that it was recently one of the biggest hits of the already hot group Westlife. BMG records just kind of ... well... dusted it off and re-released it like they did with all the rest of the AI music out there from other artists on their various labels (Superstar, Bridge over Troubled Water as well as most of the other stuff sung and recorded from the shows each week). Huh, interesting way to save money BMG.

Hhhmm... Well anyway, I still love Ruben's version of course. But hearing it sung on a Pokemon soundtrack from 3 years ago has left me feeling a little less enchanted maybe.

Yeah, whatever. It's still good music. But why the big sham AI?

Until the next big bit of AI news - I'm out.
